🎃 Ventana Vista Students Share Halloween Joy with Local Seniors

Posted Date: 11/05/25 (5:00 PM)

Halloween joy filled the halls at The Place, an assisted living community near Ventana Vista Elementary School, as students from the school’s Community Schools program arrived in costume for a morning of trick-or-treating, laughter, and connection.
Residents, many dressed in festive hats and surrounded by cheerful fall décor, handed out treats and warm smiles as children paraded through the hallways. The event, now in its third year, was coordinated by Community Schools site lead Erin Usie-Cooper and Ventana Vista parent Joanna Urbina, founder and president of the Tucson nonprofit Young at Heart, which brings youth and seniors together through art and play.Young at Heart partners with The Place each year to host this intergenerational celebration, with the support of Ventana Vista’s Community Schools and CFSD’s CARE program. Nita Shah, a Ventana Vista parent and board member of Young at Heart, also helped at the event, continuing her work to connect generations through creativity and compassion.
The result was pure joy—a shared reminder that kindness, laughter, and community bridge every generation.Â
