Over one-half of Catalina Foothills School District middle school students participate in after-school enrichment activities and athletics offered through Community Schools. Students can choose to join a school team, improve athletic skills, make new friends while learning something new or explore the outdoors. No matter what the interest, Community Schools offers fun and well-supervised after-school activities at Orange Grove Middle School.

ORDER YOUR YEARBOOK NOW!

We print a limited number of yearbooks. Orders are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. WE CANNOT GUARANTEE that there will be yearbooks available for students to purchase at the end of the year. Don’t wait until the last minute, only to find that we don’t have an extra copy for you. Rreserve your copy NOW! $28 for pre-orders, after October 10 through December 19 your cost will be $32. Forms available in the school office.

FIRST Lego League Registration for FIRST Lego League opens Friday, August 20 at 8:00 a.m.   Register on-line or in person at 2101 E. River Rd.  For in-person registration please download FLL registration form. No FIRST Lego League registrations will be accepted prior to 8:00 a.m. on August 20. Mail-in registrations will not be accepted. Do ot drop your form off at your school. Sunrise Drive School, Fridays, August 27 and September 3, 3:30-6:00 Fee for the 14-week FLL season, for students selected for teams, will be $215, payable by the first day of team meetings.
Foothills Phil Do you play an instrument? Want an excellent experience playing a variety of music from movie themes to popular classics? Come and join the Foothills Phil, Community School’s Intergenerational orchestra! Art $40 Mondays
Finally! A drawing class that everyone can participate in! Draw at your own level. From your favorite cartoon character, movie actor, or space alien - to your pet goldfish... All you need is a pencil, a piece of paper, and a good attitude. Take it from me, I’ve illustrated over 15 children’s books and countless
space aliens. Drawing is not that difficult, and a lot of fun! A $5 material fee is payable to Mr. Porfirio at the first class. Instructor: Mr. Porfirio

Crunch and Munch $80 Mondays & Wednesdays
Join us for some fun! Sign up with friends! A mix of aerobics/kickboxing, air boxing, weights, power walking, yoga and zumba latin dance! We also make and eat delicious, healthy snacks. A $5.00 material fee is due to the instructor at the first class. Instructor: Ms. Horn

Chess $40 Tuesdays at CFHS, 6:00-7:30pm
Open to all ability levels. Students meet weekly to build strategy and play games. There will be opportunity for tournament play. Mr. Larsen is the coach. REGISTER NOW!


Drama $40 Wednesdays
Lights! Camera! Action! Learn the fun-damentals of acting in this class. You’ll learn pantomime, improvisation, vocal expression, character development and script reading/memorization. This class will conclude with the performance of a play! Come join the fun.

Jazz Band $40 Mondays, Please see Ms. Ames regarding registration.
The OGMS Jazz Band is made up of students who have auditioned to be a member of the ensemble. Students will learn jazz basics, such as: improvisation skills, music theory, and the different styles used in jazz playing. The ensemble will perform throughout the school year for both school and community events. For students in 7th & 8th grade. Instructor: Ms. Ames


Yogalates $40 Wednesdays
This class involves a combination of Yoga & Pilates with stretching, breathing techniques, yoga postures and muscle toning. Join Ms. Pavlakovic for this fun way to improve your overall fitness. REGISTER NOW!


Teen Volunteer Club $40 Mondays
If you are looking for some fun after school, want to learn leadership skills, and have ideas for service projects, then join the OGMS Teen Volunteer Club. Students will design their projects and complete them at school and in the community. Material fee of $5 payable to Ms. Robles at the first class. Instructor: Ms. Robles REGISTER NOW!


Study Hall Monday - Thursday
Work on homework assignments or independent reading and get extra help if needed. After homework is finished, some time will be spent on an “active” activity. You may sign up for the days you want, please specify wheen registering. $33 for one day, $53 for two, $73 for three, $93 for all four.

Yearbook $80per quarter Tuesdays & Thursdays
Students will design and produce a high quality yearbook for OGMS. Student workers will take photos, write copy, and develop page layouts consistent with the chosen theme. Six students from each grade level will be accepted, with returning yearbook staff given first preference. All prospective yearbook staffers should be creative, able to work independently and commit to staying the entire year. You will be asked to register each quarter.

Batto-Do $80 Tuesdays at CFHS 4:30-6:00pm
Batto-Do translates as “The way of the drawn sword”. It is a non-contact form of martial arts that unites the three areas of sword study. Class will focus on the basic stances, cuts and movements, as well as the sword, and history relating to the Japanese sword. This class is open to middle and high school students and will be held at Catalina Foothills High School. August 24 - December 17. New students will need to purchase a $20 wooden sword from the instructor at the first class. Returning students will need to purchase a $48 padded sword from the instructor at the first class. Girls' Intramural Volleyball $77 Tuesday & Thursday
Girls in the 6th grade are invited to join the intramural volleyball team. Emphasis will be on team and individual skills, strategies, participation and sportsmanship. The team will play against Esperero Canyon Middle School. Coach: Ms. Kinkade REGISTER NOW!


Girls' Interscholastic Softball $115 Monday through Thursday
All 7th & 8th grade girls are invited to join the Orange Grove Panthers Softball Team. Practice basic skills such as throwing, catching, fielding and batting. Students will compete against other schools in the Northwest League. A "B" team will be added if necessary. Coach: Mr. Flynn REGISTER NOW!


Interscholastic Coed Tennis $115 Monday through Thursday
Calling all 7th and 8th grade tennis players to join the Orange Grove Panthers. The coach will teach skills, strategies, and drills to the team. Competition will take place against other schools in the Northwest League. Students are required to provide their own racquets. Register early, team size will be limited. Interscholastic Coed Cross Country $125 Monday through Thursday
Join the Orange Grove cross country team. Open to boys and girls in grades 6, 7, & 8, our team will compete for the Panthers against other schools in the Northwest League. A great way to get in shape for basketball and soccer! Coach: Mr. Souza REGISTER NOW!


Intramural Coed Flag Football $77 Tuesday & Thursday

Early Release Activities

Friday Night Nets 8/27, 9/3, 9/17, 9/24, 10/8, 10/22
Don’t miss another great opportunity to develop your basketball skills at Catalina Foothills High School this fall. CFHS basketball coaches, Pete Fajardo and Michael Steward will impart their coaching expertise using drills emphasizing techniques for ball handling, dribbling, shooting, lay-ups, passing, catching and footwork. Come on out on Friday nights for this very popular and fun camp!
Grades: 2-6 (Students will be working in groups with other players of similar age and ability level.) Boys: 6:00 - 7:30 pm Girls: 7:30 - 9:00 pm

Matsuno Ryu Goshinjitsu $40 1:00-2:30pm (no class 9/10)
